Welcome to the Best of Egypt! This is an excellent opportunity for continuing education for rostered ministers and church leaders! Elias Nawawieh, company owner and travel expert, will be your host while visiting the iconic pyramids of Giza, the majestic Sphinx, and the must-see Valley of the Kings in Luxor. At Mount Sinai (St. Catherine's Monastery), we will hike the sunrise view with local monks. Our Guest Speaker for the trip will be the Rev. Dr. Rachel Wrenn is an ordained Lutheran (ELCA) pastor and an Assistant Professor of Biblical Studies. A sought-after presenter, she often speaks at pastoral gatherings and lay church conferences. Dr. Wrenn has written multiple articles on anger in the Psalms and in liturgies, as well as several articles of biblical commentary and preaching for WorkingPreacher.org. She is the co-host of the podcast First Reading, an Old Testament lectionary podcast for preachers and teachers of the Bible (https://firstreadingpodcast.com/). Dr. Wrenn invites and challenges her students to experience both the delights and the difficulties of the biblical text. She is excited and eager to begin our adventure in Egypt. In February of 2025, we will travel together on a 10-day pilgrimage to the Holy Land.  Our journey will begin with the Galilee region to the places where much of Jesus’ ministry took place and will continue to Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem.  We will end our journey in Jerusalem where Jesus was arrested, crucified, and resurrected.  Along the way, we will see many Old Testament sites as well.   Our tour operator, Elias Nawaweih, is a Palestinian Christian from Bethlehem. He has curated a pilgrimage that will not only help us experience the land, its history, and its archaeology but will also introduce us to the “Living Stones” of the Holy Land.
