A visit to the Checkpoint Charlie Museum offers a glimpse into the city’s Cold War past. Later, we travel to Wittenberg, where we’ll enjoy dinner at our hotel.
Day 3, Oct 31: Exploring Wittenberg
Today, we delve into Wittenberg, the cradle of the Reformation. A local guide leads us on a tour of Lutherstadt-Wittenberg, beginning at the iconic door where Martin Luther posted his 95 Theses. Though the original door is gone, the bronze replica inscribed with the theses is breathtaking. The tour includes St. Mary’s Church and the Luther House Museum, Luther’s former residence where he and his wife raised their family. The afternoon and evening are free for leisure and personal exploration.
Day 4, Nov 1: Journey to Zwickau
This morning, we drive to Zwickau, one of the first cities to embrace the Reformation. A guided tour will feature landmarks such as Zwickau Cathedral, the Dr. Martin Luther School, the Priest Houses, and the ELFK bookstore. During free time, you may opt to visit the Robert Schumann House or the August-Horch Museum, a tribute to over a century of automotive history. We’ll gather for dinner in Zwickau.

We’ll stay overnight in Erfurt, soaking in the charm of this historic city.
Day 6, Nov 3: Eisenach & Rothenburg-ob-der-Tauber
Our day begins in Eisenach with a tour of Wartburg Castle, where Luther translated the New Testament into German. In the afternoon, we head to Rothenburg, a storybook medieval town along the Romantic Road. Famous for its preserved architecture, Rothenburg features a walled cityscape free of modern buildings. After dinner at our hotel, we’ll enjoy a captivating Night Watchman’s tour.
Day 7, Nov 4: Romantic Road, Dachau, and Salzburg
We continue along the Romantic Road, passing through enchanting towns like Dinkelsbühl and Nördlingen. A sobering visit to Dachau Concentration Camp invites us to reflect on history. Our journey concludes in Salzburg, where we’ll indulge in a delightful dinner and Mozart concert at Stiftskeller St. Peter, an exquisite Austrian dining experience.

A morning walking tour reveals Salzburg’s beauty, including the Mirabel Gardens, the Cathedral, Mozart’s statue, and the vibrant Getreidegasse shopping street.
